Because I can

See below for reference. This was passed along to me by a member of my church in Grand Rapids :) Because I can...

Statement Of Faith

Below you will find our Statement of Faith, along with the Apostle's Creed, and the Nicene Creed.

We accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the written Word of God. We believe in the divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness and final authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and practice. We celebrate:

The triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The incarnate Son: Jesus Christ, fully God, fully man.

The goodness and beauty of the world, created and sustained by the Word of God's power.

Salvation by grace received through faith in Jesus Christ, who alone, through His life, death and bodily resurrection, redeems us from sin and reconciles us unto God.

The essential unity of all believers, who together form one Church, diverse in form and expression, of which Christ is the Head.

The continuing ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who empowers the worship, service and witness of God's's people in all their activities.

The ultimate deliverance of the children of God and of all nature from the destructive consequences of the Fall.

We further confess the historic statements of the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds:

The Apostles Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

The Nicene Creed: I believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light; Very God of Very God; begotten, not made; being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven; and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven; and sitteth on the right hand of the Father, and He shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end'.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost; the Lord and Giver of Life; Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; Who spake by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the dead; and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Because going to class is an adventure, I have compiled a list of the seriously funny things that my professors say. Maybe this is only funny to me, but it really does provide me with enjoyment.

It's the little things that get you through the day :)

CREATIVE WRITING

"I'm having a shoe-burning. What do you mean you're having a shoe burning? Well, I have these shoes... and I'm going to burn them."

"Whatever you say."

"I hate it when people tell me about their novels... I just... zzzzz..."

"I'm thinking you have to get on the higher cable channels in the middle of the night... I'm all about research."

"I'm always reluctant to tell someone, 'Oh, you should make this a novel,' because that takes me about ten seconds to say, but then they're stuck with it for the next three years!"

LIBRARY SCIENCE

"It's okay..." (Gotta be a teacher thing)

"Mmm... yeah ya did."

"Yeah ya can, but not while you're working."

"My husband is kicking the dog."

Ahh... the things that get you through the day. And now--time to go watch NCIS and possible JAG reruns :)

USDA Gold Stars

As promised--pictures! They are mostly self-explanatory 1) Picture of my friend Evan; such a cutie! 2) Johanna and me after I surprised her at her prom, 3) Random stairs at an old mansion located in Milwaukee, 4) Grace and Desmond at our family reunion. I love Gracie's expression in this one and she will probably threaten my life after posting that, but I couldn't pass it up!

As an update, life is good. A very nice person told me that I deserved a gold star for everything that I was doing because of all of the crap that has happened as of late (long pre-conversation to that comment), and while I really just want to revel in the moment, I need to chose to set my mind on things above. Pray that I remember that my identity is in Christ and not in performance.

Until later, Sarah
