What I learned today...

" This method is the only method I know that works 100% of the time in any situation be it a high or low distraction" (J.H.).

The previous is a quote from a good friend and for the protection of the innocent, I won't be specific name wise, but just in case he ever reads my entertaining thoughts, I will pretend I have give him part of his due credit.

While he used it for something entirely different... I am going to be creative and write the top ten scenarios to which this quote could apply:

1) Mowing the lawn with a salad shooter.

2) Chewing gum on an elevator.

3) Learning how to bungi jump with a rubber band.

4) Writing a paper on the existential properties of chocolate within the realistic scenarios of college calculus and the advanced properties of Shakespeare.

5) Riding a bike with no hands or feet.

6) Eating a banana.

7) Pink Flamingoing your neighbors.

8) Snorkling in a kiddy pool.

9) Attending a job interview in your bathing suit.

10) Brushing your teeth with a brillow pad.

Grilling the Turkey Day Bird

This past year on Thanksgiving, I had the extraordinary opportunity to deep fry a turkey. This used to be on my list of things to do, but now it is on my list of things I have done. I hope to accomplish this goal within the next few months. A few of my hindrances include the money it will take to buy the turkey and the fact that I only have a little hibatche grill… but, all in all, this is a very doable goal!

I know I am a writer because...

When I am in the midst of the most tense and awkward situation, I think to myself, Dang, this would make a great story someday. I bet I can reinact it verbally in a way that will bring the reader the same tears that I am crying right now.

43 Things

Someday I will write about...

1. The pre and post conversation to "I'm sorry I yelled, but that just reinforces bad behavior."

2. The pre and post conversation to "There will be no penciling!"

3. The time I redefined the term idiot by assuming that I was being manipulated... Never assume.

4. Or maybe... "I like movies with Tom Cruise!"

It's been a looooong week. And the insanity continues as I now I have less than 24 hours to put together a murder mystery for 40+ jr high kids.

I am Seriously Considered the Following

Shooting a few good men with my top gun because I am seriously having one of those days (of thunder)...

Not quite as subtle as our previously mentioned GQ, but it will *have* to do!!!

Galaxy Quest

Galaxy Quest? I don't even think that deserves a comment! Oh my goodness! What's next? Space Balls? Seriously, at that point I may seriously consider jumping the NCIS ambulance looking vehicle. That is all I have to say.

P.S. I may consider a slight redemption considering the Tolkein reference... if that can even be considered a JRR ref...

P.P.S. What's a wing nut?

Sarah JOY

Today I am going to write in my very favorite color of all times... red!

And Mom, please no comments on the time. I even promise that I WILL be up in time for church in the morning :)

I was reminded and am continuing to be reminded via various friends/family in my life of John 16: 22. "Therefore you too now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and NO ONE TAKES YOUR JOY AWAY FROM YOU." Ps. 30:5 reiterates it a bit, "...Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of JOY comes in the morning."

I really like the first one though, because LITERALLY no one can take my joy from me. I almost think that God knew that I would need the middle name of Joy for that purpose alone. Hmm... God knows about figurative language and irony? Odd...

So, thanks, Mom, for giving me my middle name. And thanks, God, for allowing no one to ever take away my JOY.

Off to read a sappy book (with my new booklight of course!)

Thankfulness

Right now... I am just happy to be me. I am happy that it is January 19th and I didn't eat any candy today. I am happy that it is January 19th and I haven't cried all day. I am happy that I can write... and watch a million episodes of Gilmore Girls or taped episodes of NCIS.

I am happy to the point of tears. But, I am *not* going to cry.

Hail to the Victors

And today, folks, the color of choice (or colour, if you're from the other side of the ocean) is aMazin' blue... in honor, of course, of U of M. That's Michigan, for all you out of staters. Not Memphis. And most definately not Maryland. Or any other "M" state.

Due to the fact that the powers that be over at a little TV show named NCIS decided to dress Tony in OSU gear the ENTIRE show, I chose to wear U of M clothes today. As they say, paybacks are... well, like getting your teeth ripped out by a polar bear, or something like that.

Okay show... not my favorite. It did have some funny parts, ie: the Tony/Ziva slap. Two for the price of one! Woot! Gibbs/Abby interaction was fairly up to par. And Tony was a crackhead as usual.

I would also like to aptly point out that OSU only won in the last few seconds of the game. And... I will humbly admit that it was a good game this year. We were close. But, going back to MI being the best... We let you win. :)

Hail to the victors!

Bet you've all been wondering where I have been the past few weeks. Honestly? So have I. I probably have a serious case of jet lag. Then again, maybe not. I am pretty sure one can only get jet lag from riding on jets... or at least sometime of air craft. I wonder if astronauts ever get jet lag. Hmmm... now there is a question for NASA.

Oooh! I just thought of a great TV show idea. They should have a NCIS-esque NASA. Notice, I did not say CSI. Don't get me wrong, CSI makes for great dinner conversation, or even better pillow talk (well, wouldn't really know on that last one), but it just isn't my cup of coffee.

Tomorrow, Friday, for all of you New Englanders, I am going to a celebratory dinner at the Hayes'. Wendy is cooking dinner because I did very well on the GRE, specifically the writing portion. I will be signing a few autographs there, so please reserve your ticked for the red carpet event. Actually, I am really having dinner because Wendy is Wendy and very sweet like that. I don't think she knows Peter Pan, though.

Umm... let me see. I have a Relay for Life meeting tonight. I am excited about being involved in RFL Vermont style. Although, RFL Len Co. is twenty times better and at least forty times bigger!

Oh, I met a new friend the other day. Not sure what I really think about him. He tends to be a bit... domineering... for lack of a better word. Basically, he is like a girl--if he doesn't get his way, he throws a temper tantrum and refuses to talk to me. Maybe we won't be friends... I don't really know. Just because he confuses me so much. That was random, I know. But, I have been needing to vent about it.

Well, gotta go milk a cow.

Oreos and Pepsi, Sarah
